The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 And your garments purify! 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
