Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And goblets set at hand 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
