Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
