'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
