Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” 31 They replied: 'We are sent to a sinful nation, 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 "Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds." 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 There is another sign in Moses: We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 The Pharaoh and his forces turned away from him, saying, "He is either a magician or an insane person". 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they rebelled against the command of their Lord. So the thunderbolt overtook them while they looked on: 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 So were the People of Noah before them for they wickedly transgressed. 46
