Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
