The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and a few from later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
