A (goodly) number from those of old, 39 And a crowd of the later. 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 Under the shadow of thick black smoke 43 Neither cool nor pleasant. 44 They had been affluent before, 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Say thou: verily the ancients and those of later generations: 49 Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 and will have to fill your bellies therewith, 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 Drinkers even as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 It is He who created you, then why do you not affirm the truth? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Is it you who create it - or are We the source of its creation? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 You have surely known of the first creation. Why then, will you not remember! 62 So what is your opinion regarding what you sow? 63 Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 That, “We have indeed been penalised!” 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. 71 Produce ye the tree thereof, or are We the Producer? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
