He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and fearfully, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and purified. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
