The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
