A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem, Sad. 1 A Book revealed unto thee,- So let thy heart be oppressed no more by any difficulty on that account,- that with it thou mightest warn (the erring) and teach the Believers). 2 Follow (O men!) the revelation given unto you from your Lord, and follow not, as friends or protectors, other than Him. Little it is ye remember of admonition. 3 Many a habitation have We laid low before: Our retribution came upon them in the night or in the midst of siesta at noon. 4 And when Our punishment overtook them they had nothing to say except crying out: "We have indeed been sinners." 5 So We shall call to account those to whom Messengers were sent, and We shall call to account the Messengers (to see how dutifully they conveyed the Message, and how people responded to it). 6 Then surely, We shall narrate unto them (their whole story) with knowledge, and indeed We were not absent. 7 The weighing on that Day will be the true weighing: those whose scales are heavy will prosper. 8 And as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is light those are they who have made their souls suffer loss because they disbelieved in Our communications. 9 We assuredly established you in the earth and arranged for your livelihood in it. Little do you give thanks. 10
