(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 He has given you abundance of cattle and children 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
