Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds which scatter dust, 1 and the burden-bearers 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 And those who distribute by command, 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 And indeed, the recompense is to occur. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 surely you speak at variance, 8 he is turned away from [the truth] who is destined to be so turned away. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 It will be the Day whereon in the Fire they will be burned 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
