Nay, by the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who will be in Paradise 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 we fed not the needy, 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
