The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
