The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 He created the human being 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
