The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
