The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
