The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
