Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 with a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets spread around. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
