The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or orders piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
