[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lot said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 161 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 Go ye in, of all creatures, unto the males? 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said, “O Lut, if you do not desist, you will be expelled.” 167 He said, “I am disgusted with your works.” 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 So We delivered him and his family,- all 170 Except an old woman among those who remained behind. 171 Thereafter We annihilated the rest. 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 175

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
