This, (Quran), is certainly the revelation from the Lord of the Universe. 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 (But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them 198 And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful torment; 201 that will come upon them [on resurrection,] all of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]; 202 and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 What do you see? If We gave them enjoyment for years, 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 (How) that wherewith they were contented naught availeth them? 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 for a reminder; and never did We wrong. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 nor does it behove them, nor does it lie in their power. 211 verily, [even] from hearing it are they utterly debarred! 212 So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished. 213 And warn thou thy clan, the nearest ones. 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 Then if they disobey you say to them: "I am quit of what you do." 216 And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you stand up. 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Verily! He, only He, is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 220 Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? 221 They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets -- it is the misled who follow them. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
