The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 Hath the admonition been laid upon him from amongst us! Aye! he is a liar insolent. 25 Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one. 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 32 The people of Lut treated the warning. as a lie. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 He had warned them of Our assault but they disputed the warnings. 36 They lusted after his guests, so We put out their eyes (and said): "Taste My punishment and My commination." 37 Indeed an abiding chastisement came upon them in the morning. 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40
