The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
