He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he feareth 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
