Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
