The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
Almighty Allah's Truth.
