Whatever hardship befalls you is the result of your own deeds. God pardons many of your sins. 30 You cannot frustrate Him in the earth; you have no protector nor helper against Allah. 31 And among His Signs are the ships, smooth-running through the ocean, (tall) as mountains. 32 Had He wanted, He could have stopped the wind and let the ships remain motionless on the surface of the sea, in this there is evidence (of the Truth) for all those who are patient and grateful, 33 or else He may cause them to perish because of what they have wrought; and [withal,] He pardons much. 34 those who dispute Our signs shall learn that they have no escape. 35 Whatever thing you have been given is the enjoyment of the present life; but what is with God is better and more enduring for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. 36 Who avoid the deadly sins, immoral acts, and forgive when they are angered, 37 Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them, 38 who, when a wrong is done to them, seek its redress. 39 The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loveth not those who do wrong. 40 And whoever defends himself after his being oppressed, these it is against whom there is no way (to blame). 41 The way is only open against those who do wrong to the people, and are insolent in the earth wrongfully; there awaits them a painful chastisement. 42 And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives that would truly be from the things recommended by Allah. 43
