Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask: When is the day of judgment? 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 And it will be said to them, “Taste your own roasting; this is what you were impatient for.” 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness, 18 And in their property was a portion due to him who begs and to him who is denied (good). 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as true as your speech. 23
