The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
