The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
