The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 And the House frequented, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
