The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 By the angels hastening, 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 and hastily turned away, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
