S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad. CONSIDER this Qur'an, endowed with all that one ought to remember! 1 Nay, but those who disbelieve are in false pride and schism. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. 3 They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. 4 Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" 5 And their leaders went about, “Leave him and cling steadfastly to your Gods! Indeed he has a hidden objective in this!” 6 We never heard of this in the former faith; this is nothing but a forgery: 7 Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. 8 Or, have they the treasuries of the Mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Giving? 9 Or, is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that which is in-between the twain? If so, let them ascend by steps. 10 A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. 11 The people of Nuh and Ad, and Firon, the lord of spikes, rejected (apostles) before them. 12 and so did Thamud and the people of Lot and the people of Aykah. These were all leagued together. 13 There was none of them but called the apostles liars, so just was My retribution. 14
