Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 He will forgive you your sins and respite you till an appointed term. When the term of Allah arrives it cannot be deferred; if you but knew' 4 He said: "O my Lord! Verily, I have called my people night and day (i.e. secretly and openly to accept the doctrine of Islamic Monotheism). 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 Then indeed I called them openly; 8 then indeed I spoke publicly unto them, and I spoke unto them secretly, 9 I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving. 10 He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain: 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 What is amiss with you that you do not look forward to the majesty of Allah 13 "'Seeing that it is He that has created you in diverse stages? 14 Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 how God has produced you from the earth and caused you to grow, 17 then He shall return you into it, and bring you forth. 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20
