The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
