Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
