Elucidated (Fussilat)

54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

Ha Mim! 1 This (Qur’an) is sent down from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know: 3 Good tidings and a warning. But most of them turn away so that they hear not. 4 and so they say, [as it were:] "Our hearts are veiled from whatever thou callest us to, [O Muhammad,] and in our ears is deafness, and between us and thee is a barrier. Do, then, [whatever thou wilt, whereas,] behold, we shall do [as we have always done]!" 5 Proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “Physically I am a human like you – I receive the divine revelation that your God is only One God, therefore be upright towards Him and seek forgiveness from Him”; and woe is to the polytheists. – 6 who do not pay zakat and have no faith in the life to come. 7 But those who believe and do the right, will have a continuing reward. 8
