The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
