۞ He it is who created you from a single soul, and He created therefrom his spouse that he might find repose in her. Then when he covereth her she beareth a light burthen and fareth about therewith; then when she groweth heavy the twain call upon Allah their Lord: if Thou vouchsafest us a goodly child, we shall surely be of the thankful. 189 But when He gives them a good one, they set up with Him associates in what He has given them; but high is Allah above what they associate (with Him). 190 Do they (the disbelievers) ascribe (false deities) that which do not create anything, but are themselves created? 191 They have no power to help others. nor can they help themselves. 192 If you call them to guidance they will not follow you. It is all the same if you call them or hold your tongue. 193 Verily those whom ye call upon besides Allah are servants like unto you: Call upon them, and let them listen to your prayer, if ye are (indeed) truthful! 194 Have they feet wherewith they walk? Or have they hands wherewith they hold? Or have they eyes wherewith they see? Or have they ears wherewith they hear? Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Call your (so-called) partners (of Allah) and then plot against me, and give me no respite! 195 "For my Protector is Allah, Who revealed the Book (from time to time), and He will choose and befriend the righteous. 196 And those whom you call upon besides Him are not able to help you, nor can they help themselves. 197 And if you invite them to guidance, they do not hear; and you see them looking towards you, yet they do not see. 198 Keep to forgiveness (O Muhammad), and enjoin kindness, and turn away from the ignorant. 199 And O listener! If the devil provokes you, seek the refuge of Allah; indeed He is All Hearing, All Knowing. 200 Verily, those who are Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V. 2:2), when an evil thought comes to them from Shaitan (Satan), they remember (Allah), and (indeed) they then see (aright). 201 But their brethren (the evil ones) plunge them deeper into error, and never relax (their efforts). 202 If you, (Muhammad), do not show them a miracle, they will keep on insisting that you must show them one. Say, "I only follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This (Quran) contains wisdom for you from your Lord. It contains guidance and mercy for those who have faith. 203 And when the Qur'an is recited, give ear to it and pay heed, that ye may obtain mercy. 204 And remember your Lord within yourself in humility and in fear without being apparent in speech - in the mornings and the evenings. And do not be among the heedless. 205 Lo! those who are with thy Lord are not too proud to do Him service, but they praise Him and prostrate before Him. ۩ 206
