Have you seen him who turns his back, 33 And gave a little and [then] refrained? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another; 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 from an ejected drop of sperm; 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 that He it is Who destroyed the ancient 'Ad, 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 So which then of your Lord's favors do you dispute? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
