The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
