The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a written book, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, "Indeed they have gone astray." 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
