Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who are sent consecutively, 1 by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 separating one from another, 4 and those hurling a reminder 5 To complete the argument or to warn. 6 Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall. 7 Then when the stars become dim; 8 And when the heaven is opened 9 and when the mountains crumble into dust 10 and when the Messengers' time is set 11 For what day is the time appointed? 12 For the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false]! 13 Would that you knew what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 15 Did We not destroy the earlier peoples? 16 and then follow them with the later folk? 17 [for] thus do We deal with such as are lost in sin. 18 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 And We placed it in a firm lodging 21 Till an appointed term, 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 24 Did We not make the earth a receptacle, 25 For the living and the dead. 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 28 Proceed to that which you denied. 29 Proceed to that shadow, rising in three columns 30 "Neither shading, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire." 31 Verily! It (Hell) throws sparks (huge) as Al-Qasr [a fort or a Qasr (huge log of wood)], 32 sparks like to golden herds. 33 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 34 This is the day they shall not speak 35 nor shall they be permitted to offer excuses. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 That is the Day of Judgement on which We have assembled you as well as all those who went before you. 38 If you have any plans, use them. 39 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 40
