Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 And those (angels) who distribute (provisions, rain, and other blessings) by (Allah's) Command; 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and that which ye are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
