The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
