He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 These verses are a reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
