No, by the moon! 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
