Al-Infitaar
Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And when the stars have fallen and scattered; 2 when the seas are made to burst forth, 3 And when the graves are overturned. 4 A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back. 5 O man! What has made you careless concerning your Lord, the Most Generous? 6 Who created thee, then moulded thee, then proportioned thee? 7 having put thee together in whatever form He willed [thee to have]? 8 Nay, but ye deny the Judgment. 9 And yet, verily, there are ever-watchful forces over you, 10 noble scribes, 11 They know what you do. 12 Verily the pious shall be in Delight. 13 whereas, behold, the wicked will indeed be in a blazing fire 14 [a fire] which they shall enter on Judgment Day, 15 and which they shall not [be able to] evade. 16 And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense? 17 Again, what will make you realize what the day of judgment is? 18 A day when no soul shall possess aught to succour another soul; that day the Command shall belong unto God. 19
